Overview

The Watchpost is a sub-building of the Manor House. It is unlocked in tier 2 on the Labour path of the Progression tree for the cost of 5 Labor Influence.png Labour Influence. This sub-building allows the player to employ Patrollers and Watchmen in their city. The optimum rank for both roles is Commoner.

The Watchpost is modular and can therefore be expanded and decorated using only the common building parts of the Manor House. Expanding the sub-building allows the player to employ more Patrollers and Watchmen. The Watchpost has no unique building parts.

Patrollers

Patrollers patrol the streets of the city. Houses must be visited by Patrollers in order to reach tier 2 Density.

Patrol Zone

The zone that the Patrollers can cover is defined by the player using the "Paint Patrol Area" button in the Watchpost menu.

The appropriate size of the zone depends on the number of Patrollers, and is indicated in the Watchpost menu. However the actual efficiency of Patrollers depends on many factors in the game algorithms (e.g. distance to worker housing) so the actual area of Housing that the Patrollers can cover depends from Watchpost to Watchpost; the player will need to experiment to see how many Houses the Patrollers of a given Watchpost can cover, and increase or decrease the size of patrol zones accordingly.

The additional area that each new Patroller adds to the appropriate patrol zone diminishes as more Patrollers are added. For this reason, it is advisable to build multiple small Watchposts (no more than 5 Patrollers each) to cover small areas of Housing, rather than large Watchposts covering large areas.

Watchmen

Watchmen visit buildings which provide areas of Active Fortification (e.g. Watchtowers) and Guard Arrows in modular buildings. If Watchtowers go too long without being visited by a Watchmen, they will stop providing Fortification.

Construction

Requirements

The Watchpost must include at least one room and one door.
