This is a view of a typical game in Foundation. Some of the buttons here will not appear at the beginning of a game, but will appear as the player reaches new stages within the game. In this picture, all available buttons have been unlocked.

| 1 | Help | Click this button to access the in-game help. |
| 2 | Visibility | Allows players to toggle the overlays and icons that appear in the game, such as the zones overlay, beautification overlay, and the "Workers missing" icon for buildings. |
| 3 | Coins Panel | Shows the player's current total gold, treasury space and the general positive or negative trend of their finances. |
| 4 | Resources Panel | Shows the player their current totals for a selection of resources. The resources which appear here can be chosen in the Resources page of the Royal Book. |
| 5 | Villagers Panel | Shows the total villager number (left), average city happiness, number of unemployed, and rate of immigration. |
| 6 | Progression Panel | Summaries the player's overall Prosperity and their levels of Splendour and Influence across the Labour, Clergy and Kingdom Estates. |
