Territory is the range of the map which you own. It defines the area in which buildings can be constructed and zones painted, and within which villagers can work. Territories are shaped and sized differently based on the natural terrain and the resources available in that territory.
Maps in Foundation are divided into Territories, which the player must purchase as the game progresses in order to expand their village. Only within owned territories can resources be harvested, buildings constructed and zones painted. Territories are shaped and sized differently based on the natural terrain and the resources available in that territory.

On starting a new game, the player must select a starting territory. The player can only choose from territories that have the necessary starting resources (berries and stone) available. The selected territory will effectively become the 'centre' of the village.
On starting a new game, the player must select a starting territory. The player can only choose from territories that have the necessary starting resources ( and ) available.

Apart from this starting territory, all other territories must be obtained through the Territory button of the User Interface. The player can unlock one territory for free in addition to the starting territory, after which new territories cost . New territories can only be chosen from those adjacent to a currently owned territory. For each territory owned there is also a monthly upkeep cost, which rises per new territory as the village grows.

This destroys all buildings and clears any zones placed in that territory, and renders the territory's resources inaccessible. The player cannot abandon territories in a way that would split their owned territory into separate sections, nor can they abandon their starting territory.

The player purchases new territories in the territory menu, which is accessed by clicking the Territories button in the HUD. New territories cost 100 gold coins, and must be adjacent to a currently owned territory. For each territory owned there is an upkeep cost that must be paid monthly and rises per new territory as the village becomes bigger.
