The Army consists of the player's Combatants (Militiamen, Soldiers and Knights), who are organised into Companies. These Companies can be sent out on military Missions, and if successful they will return with loot in the form of Influence and/or various kinds of Resources. Companies and individual Combatants can be managed in the Army Book, accessed through the Army button on the User Interface.

Creating an Army

The first step in building an Army is to build a Keep with the Castle sub-building. Once the Castle is completed, the player will be able to form their first Company and assign soldiers to it. Only one Castle can be build on the map. In order to create additional Companies, the player will need to unlock the Spear Warfare, Bow Warfare and Sword Warfare technologies in the Kingdom Path of the Progression Tree; these technologies unlock the Spear Encampment, Bow Encampment and Sword Encampment sub-buildings respectively. Players can create one new company of the corresponding weapon type in each Encampment sub-building.

At first, each Company can only have up to 5 Combatants, but once the player unlocks the Command Post building part, they will be able to build Command Posts in the Castle and any Encampment sub-building, raising the number of Combatants in a Company to 10, which is the maximum.

Types of Company

There are four types of Company; Castle Company, Spear Company, Bow Company and Sword Company.

Castle Company

The Castle Company is the Company created in the Castle sub-building. Because only one Castle can be constructed in a town, the player can only ever have one Castle Company. This type of Company is unique in that its Combatants can use any type of weapon. As a result, it can function as any Company type for the purpose of military Missions.

Spear Company

Spear Companies are created in the Spear Encampment sub-building; one Company per Encampment. Combatants in a Spear Company can use Spears, Polearms or Pikes.

Bow Company

Bow Companies are created in the Bow Encampment sub-building; one Company per Encampment. Combatants in a Bow Company can use Shortbows, Recurve Bows or Longbows.

Sword Company

Sword Companies are created in the Sword Encampment sub-building; one Company per Encampment. Combatants in a Sword Company can use Iron Swords, Steel Swords or Longswords.

Company Level

For some Military Missions, only Companies that have reached a certain level can be assigned. A Company reaches level 2 when one of its Combatants is promoted to the Soldier rank, and level 3 when one is promoted to the Knight rank. Combatants can only be promoted when their Needs are filled and they have reached a certain level of Might.

Managing an Army

Companies and individual Combatants can be managed in the Army Book, accessed through the Army button on the User Interface. The Army book consists of four pages.

Mission List

On this page are listed the Missions available to the player (left) and the Companies available to be assigned to the selected mission (right).

On each Mission's panel is given the name, the recommended Might level for success, the expected rewards from the mission (if successful), the level of the mission (indicated by 1, 2 or 3 INSERT ICON HERE Fleur de Lis), and if applicable, the requirements (War Rations.png War Rations) and risks (injury or death of Combatants) of the mission.

For a list of Missions and details, see Military Missions.

Company List

On this page players can see a list of their Companies (left) and information on the selected Company (right).

The left side of the Company List page shows the name of each Company, its size, level, assigned weapon and duty type, its Might, and its status (e.g. ready, problem, on mission). Players can also change the order in which Companies appear on the far left, use the Home button to zoom to the Company's parent sub-building, and the delete button to delete a Company.

The right side of the Company List page shows information on the selected company. Here players can change the name of the company, and change the Company's duty and weapon type. Players can also view information on individual Combatants; names, ranks, strength, weapon status, happiness, training level, and problems.
